Have been reading the Better H*omes and G*ardens Junior Cookbook that was reprinted from the 1955 original.
This thing is a hoot! It has recipes for things such as hot dogs wrapped in bacon to making a house out of fig newtons and oreos. I'm enjoying the retro photos- all in b&w along with reading the recipes.
What is really interesting though is to see how far we have really come from 1955. This book was written for girls only, that is more than obvious. From paragraphs about how pretty she'll look in her apron with her hair tied back neatly with a ribbon, to how glad father will be when she allows him the first bite of a certain dish.....It's fun to read, but so glad the expectations have changed when it comes to cooking and kids.
